Workshop Canceled, to be Rescheduled

The Mandala Flow Workshop, scheduled for October 4th, will be rescheduled for a yet-to-be-determined date in November. While this is disappointing, there are two bright sides:

1. Patience is a virtue. ;-)

and

2. Kimberly Kennamer will be conducting a workshop in mid October, which will focus on poses and meditation practices she learned while traveling this past summer in India. Check here for more details, which will be posted as soon as we have them.

Have a great Wednesday, and happy Fall!

Mandala Flow Workshop - October 4th

Come join us for a special yoga workshop on Sunday, October 4th, with visiting instructor Bethany Templin. This workshop will focus on a full spectrum practice as we dive into the Mandala Namaskars (variation of Sun Salutations) which emerged from the practice of Bethany’s teacher, Shiva Rea, and have been evolving ever since! Like Surya Namaskar, created to heat and open the body, moving in full circles allows the mind and body to open as prana, our life-force energy, guides the way in waves of unfolding mudras to cultivate a deeper awareness, consciousness, and embodiment.

Ashtanga and Yogaflow

The Ashtanga yoga workshop will take place this Sunday at 2:00pm at Morning Glory Yoga Studios. It will be taught by Karen Higgins, owner and manager of Longview Yoga Studios. This is the fourth and final class of the series, but students interested in attending need not have attended the first three classes to participate. Ashtanga is a fast paced class that is practiced in a warm room, so be prepared to move and sweat. The cost of the class is $25.00.

And speaking of guest instructors and yoga workshops, Jim Turner, who has taught at Morning Glory in the past, will be returning to lead a special two day long workshop focusing on Yogaflow. Join Jim Friday, July 17th, from 6:30 to 8:00pm, and explore how the body feels in flow through building the foundation for strong postures and developing integration of asana and breath. On Saturday, July 18th, there will be two sessions. The first will take place from 10:00 to 11:30am and will help students develop the foundations necessary to move deeper into inversion practices. Postures will include Handstand, Headstand, Should-stand, and Forearm Balance. Even those who don't perform inversions are welcome to attend. After a light lunch, the workshop will continue from 1:00 to 2:30pm, where students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of hand and arm balances.

All levels of practitioners are welcome to any or all of these Yogaflow sessions. Prices for the workshop are as follows:

All three sessions: $90.00
Any two sessions: $70.00
Any one session: $40.00

In the Studio: Ashtanga Yoga

This Sunday (May 17th) at 2:00pm, Morning Glory Yoga Studios will be offering the first of a special series of classes exploring the world of Ashtanga Yoga.

Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga developed by Sri. K. Patthabi Jois, which uses a learned sequential order of postures, synchronized with the breath, to create internal heat, purify the body, and improve strength, flexibility and endurance.

The first session will last two hours. The following sessions will be one and a half hours long, and will take place every other Sunday at the Studio. Karen Higgins, owner and manager of the Longview Yoga Studio, will be teaching this series. Her approach will be gentle and inclusive, with plenty of modifications to suit individual needs. Classes will be $25 each, or students may sign up for all four classes for $80. If you're interested in embarking on a new adventure in yoga, sign up at the Studio and make checks payable to Morning Glory Yoga Studios.

We're lucky to have Karen traveling to Nacogdoches from Longview, and excited about the opportunity to offer an additional kind of yoga to Morning Glory students. We hope you can join us this Sunday!
